AmaPrima was arriving in
Bamberg in the afternoon so we had time to sleep in, then partook in the light lunch buffet in the lounge.

We chose to do the active walking excursion. On the bus, the local guide passed out vouchers for a complimentary glass of Bamberg's famous smoked beer (
Rauchbier). Our group moved quickly on foot and were able to see the inside of
Bamberg Cathedral. The town was very pictureseque,
especially the
Old Town Hall located in the middle of the river.

After the tour, we had free time to explore Bamberg. We headed to
Brewery Schlenkerla to get our glass of beer. Inside, there was a serving window with a sign listing prices; the bartender took our vouchers and handed us two glasses of very dark beer. Looking for a place to sit, we recognized some river cruisemates in one of the dining rooms, who called us over to join them. Before we could find extra chairs, one of the staff came by, barked at us in German and pointed out the door. I suspected that the window was for "to-go" orders, which explained why we saw people drinking outside the door despite open seats inside. Another couple from AmaPrima also came to join us outside, remarking that it was the first time they had ever been thrown out of a pub.
After finishing the beers, we returned the glasses to the window and walked around town. There was a farmers market where we tried some bratwurst.
We made the last shuttle back to the boat, in time to freshen up for dinner.

The next day, AmaPrima arrived in
Nuremberg. I forgot to take pictures of today's Daily Cruiser. :(

We went on the WWII Nuremberg tour, visiting the
Nazi party rally grounds at Zeppelinfeld and the
Palace of Justice, most notably Courtroom 600.

After the excursion, we had free time to explore the city. It was a steady climb to reach
Nuremberg Castle. There was an admission fee to access the interior; we ended up exploring the exterior as we were short on time.

Then it was all aboard AmaPrima for a special Bavarian lunch and ice cream party, followed by crossing the highest point of the
Main-Danube Canal and traversing through impressive locks.
