Days 2-3 at the Grand Luxxe Nuevo Vallarta - April 9-10, 2018

The next day, we set out to explore more of the Grand Luxxe Nuevo Vallarta and her sister resorts. Of course, I opened my Pokemon Go app: no Pokestops near our villa, but various Pokemon would pop up once in a while. Free wi-fi was available, but it didn't extend everywhere, and only a few Pokestops were accessible.

A golf course sat in the middle of the resort complex. There were a few people playing in the late morning in mild humidity.

Near the center of the resort complex is the Santuario. During the day, it is a sun-lit, peaceful place to sit and relax with the sound of fountains flowing, then turns into an entertainment hub by evening. We aren't into the nightclub scene so we never visited it after dark.

The Grand Mayan is another resort in the complex; its entrance felt like we stepped into an Indiana Jones movie.

The Grand Mayan boasts a long lazy river, large pools and water park, great for families with children. As Grand Luxxe guests, we had access to all the other resorts' pools, and not vice versa. (though we didn't have access to the Sky Pool on the roof of Grand Luxxe tower 5 since we were exchangers, not owners)

The resort complex had beach access, with chairs and palapas.

The Mayan Palace pool was serene.

After walking the expansive grounds, we went to La Plaza and got some frozen yogurt.

We returned to our villa to have lunch and enjoy our outdoor patio. It was great that our side of the building was shaded in the afternoon, as it was already warm from the humidity.

There is a Vidanta app that lists resort activities by day and other useful information. I found a lot of activities available for kids.

Tonight's dinner was at Gong, serving Asian-inspired cuisine. Prices were similar to eating out back at home. I made reservations using OpenTable.

The server brought a hook next to the table to hang my beach bag.

The food was decent. I would stick with raw items next time.

complimentary amuse-bouche (deconstructed egg roll)
Mexican ale
duck dumplings, tuna tataki
dragon roll, mixed sashimi, gong roll
mochi ice cream
complimentary red bean mochi balls

Gong was located next to the Grand Mayan, so we couldn't resist visiting the statues again.

On Tuesday morning, we tried the breakfast buffet at Fresh Co, located at the Grand Luxxe. There was a decent selection.

After breakfast, we walked around the complex and visited places we missed last time.

kids club
turtles hanging out

We returned to the villa and relaxed on our patio until dinner. The plunge pool is not heated and very brisk!

For dinner, we went to Blue Fish (now renamed Limon y Sal), a casual eatery located at the Grand Luxxe. Great food! I always enjoy having ceviche. The fish tacos were excellent.

complimentary tortilla and sweet potato chips and dips
peruvian and salmon tiradito ceviche
chips and crackers served with ceviche
baja fish tacos

After our meal, we walked around, then returned to our villa to watch TV and play Nintendo Switch video games until bedtime. Using that huge rain shower in the bathroom was very indulgent.

It's great that we can be lazy here, with no pressure to get involved in the numerous activities happening around the resort complex.

Stay tuned for the rest of the week's antics...
